Creating Meaningful Learning Using Moodle: by Fred Aspan-Martin

This week I presented my PowerPoint Presentation to two of my colleagues and my Principal at my continuation high school. I have used Moodle over the past three years in a program titled YEP "Young Entrepreneurship Program" out of San Diego and hosted by Mira Costa College. Using Moodle has been fantastic because my business plan team can access tons of resources that are placed online at their convenience...most often when they meet up at Starbucks and at one the team members homes.

During and after my presentation I fielded some good questions from my colleagues and Principal. The main issue I think everyone was having was in regards to the idea of another change. Recently our School District switched over to Infinite Campus (IC) and it has been a real pain for some less "techie" people. If you view my presentation you'll see that my proposal is to pilot Moodle through one of our two CTE Pathways (Entrepreneurship) which I teach three of the courses. I also plan on using Moodle for my Health class offering to improve student success on quizzes and tests. Please let me know what you think!

Creating Meaningful Learning Using Edmodo:
Dave Pavlick
This week I spent alot of time looking at an online interface that I have used over the last year and have been very happy with. We are looking for an alternstive the program Black board and I have been using Edmodo. It's a great program that allows you to post discussions, tests, quizes get reports on scores adn has a built in grade book. It's great for all different types of classes and has a great calendar feature. I didn't mention in my ppt. that is also has a mobile app so your students can submit and ask question about HW, article reviews or just ask about a topic going on in class. This is great for students to know if they have a question they can post it online and I get an email saying they have a question. It's automatically sent right to my phone so then I can quickly answer the question.
This is a great addition to any classroom. Let me know what you think.

Enjoy!
